Walkabout Sydney's Bays: Part 2 Clovelly
Clovelly is an rea near the famous Sydney tourist site Bondi Beach. It is on the south side of the harbor, just east of the downtown area and the Opera House. At first I thought, "Okay, not so much." Big homes straddle this long and protected bay. As you can see in the second photo, the beach is really long too. All along the edges of it is a walkway. From the path you can look in on the mussles and see the site of future blow holes, like this one in the third image.
The houses all around here must be multi-million dollar homes. And they come in all sorts of styles and design. I particularly like the clean lines and big windows of the third house from the left in the 4th photo.
Soo and I went walking to the other side of the beach, to an area she had not been to before. the hill rises up over the ocean and it becomes very rocky (see photos 6-7). We met a couple at the top. He was taking photos of his girl friend and kept having her move close to the edge. It was painful to watch! I was so relieved when she pulled back away from the edge! (But then I had Soo take one of me on another ledge. It really is not as dangerous as it looks!)
Beautiful rocks and cliffs met us all along the top of this path. Really spectacular scenes of the Pacific as Clovelly sits on the outside of the continent.
We grabbed a quick bite at a wonderful little place for fish and chips (a.k.a. french fries). On the wall was this ownderful sign that captured the spirit of the day. Strolling back to the car, we discovered a camelia bush in glorious bloom. Final stop: Watson Bay and the Gap!
